The Antminer S19 Series firmware from Awesome Miner is designed to increase features, increase power efficiency, and boost hashrate performance.

Beta Version Now Available

The Awesome Miner Antminer S19 firmware‘s initial release is now accessible.

Beta Version Limitations

  • The auto tuning function is not yet available. Compared to when the feature was made available, this will result in a slightly higher power consumption. A new release in March is expected to include the auto-tuning feature.

Getting Started

  1. Download the SD-card image. Please be aware that the SD-card images for S19 are ZIP files.
  2. Please indicate whether your Antminer S19j or S19j Pro has a control board from Xilinx or BeageBone. For information on how to identify, see the section after that. The firmware for BeageBone has “bb” in the firmware file name.
  3. Create a temporary folder and extract the ZIP file there. One IMG file is all that the ZIP file has.
  4. Install the BalenaEtcher tool after downloading it.
  5. Use BalenaEtcher to write the IMG-file to an SD-card
    1. Click Flash from file and select the IMG-file extracted in step #3 above
    2. Click Select target and select the SD-card
    3. Click Flash and wait for the operation to finalize
  6. Launch the Antminer after inserting the SD card. As the firmware is running directly from the SD-card and isn’t being installed to the Antminer, keep it there at all times.
  7. Deactivate the Antminer’s web interface. Click the Unlock button in the upper right corner and enter the password (default: “root” or “admin” depending on version) to proceed with the configuration
  8. Go to the Mining section and select the Overclocking tab and use the Preset setting to define the hashrate level to use. The auto tuning function is not yet available. This will result in slightly more power usage than what is listed.

S19j: Identify Control Board Type – Xilinx Or BeagleBone

Depending on the type of control board, the Antminer S19j and S19j Pro have different firmware. Both the Xilinx and BeagleBone (BB) control boards are compatible with the Antminer S19j and S19j Pro. For the right firmware to be downloaded, it’s critical to know the type of control board. Xilinx is always used by Antminer S19 (without J).

Xilinx

Near the Ethernet port on the Xilinx control board, which is visible from the outside of the Antminer, is a slot for an SD card reader.

BeagleBone

The SD-card reader on the BeagleBone control board is hidden inside and can only be accessed by opening the Antminer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Firmware Installed to the Antminer?

The Antminer S19 firmware will not be installed (flashed) on the Antminer, in contrast to our other Antminer firmware, because Bitmain forbids the installation of any custom firmware. A micro SD card cannot be used to install (flash). Our Antminer firmware, however, operates straight from the micro SD card. Our firmware will be loaded from the micro SD card when the Antminer boots up.

Do I Need a Large Number of Micro SD Cards?

Yes, one for every Antminer you own. The SD card needs to be inserted constantly while the Antminer is running because it boots and loads the firmware from the card. There will be one SD card used by each Antminer as a result. 50 Micro SD cards are required if you want to run the Awesome Miner Antminer S19 firmware on 50 Antminers.

How Do I Uninstall the Firmware?

You merely take out the SD card because the Antminer’s firmware is never installed. Without an SD card, the Antminer will simply boot into the pre-installed Bitmain firmware when you turn it on.

What Kind of Micro SD Can Be Used?

Antminers can be picky about the Micro SD card being used, and cards with higher memory capacities (16 GB or more) might not always function properly. The minimum size of Micro SD cards that Bitmain typically recommends is 8 GB. Please make sure you confirm the particular type of SD card is functional before ordering any greater quantities if you run more Antminers.

How to Upgrade to a More Recent Firmware Version?

It is necessary to first copy our Antminer S19 firmware to the SD card. The upgrade can be performed later using either Awesome Miner or the Antminer web interface to update to a more recent version of our firmware.

Is Immersion Cooling Be Supported?

Yes

What is the Mining Fee?

The cost of mining is 2.8%. Awesome Miner can manage and keep track of all Antminers using our firmware without charging extra.

How Much Power Can the Antminer S19 PSU Deliver?

3600W can always be handled by the standard PSU, and 4000W under ideal cooling conditions. Immersion cooling provides even better cooling conditions, around 5000W.
